UIDAI allows those who have Aadhaar cardsto change their address and without the need of documentation. Aadhaar card holders were able to modify their address, but only if they do not have evidence of their identity.
New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India has temporarily stopped a crucial feature that allows you to change your Aadhaar card's address, without document of your address.
UIDAI allows customers of Aadhaar cards to change their address without any proof of identity. Aadhaar card holders can update their address once they consent to the authentication by the verifier of their address. A verifier of address could be a family member, friend, landlord or family member who permits the Aadhaar card owner to utilize their address as proof.
UIDAI has now stopped this feature. UIDAI was notified by an Aadhaar Card holder by tweeting that updating address on Aadhaar Card by submitting an Address Validation Letter was removed. UIDAI has requested the Aadhaar issuer to notify users that they can update their address using a accepted PoA document.
Dear Resident Attention: The Address Validation Letter service has been removed until further notice. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list https://t.co/BeqUA0pkqL
